Limelight Poster System
Rapid identity + reusable poster templates for recurring lunch talks featuring industry professionals.
The Context
Limelight is a recurring event where industry professionals deliver a one-hour lunch talk to design students. Promotion had to work in two places: Instagram and printed posters inside the design space.
Each event needed professional-looking promotion, fast. But every speaker brings different photo quality, posing, lighting, and composition, and we don’t get time to reshoot.
Each event needed professional-looking promotion, fast. But every speaker brings different photo quality, posing, lighting, and composition, and we don’t get time to reshoot.
The Constraints
1-week turnaround from speaker confirmation to posters going live
No control over photography quality (speakers submit whatever they have)
Needs to scale across multiple speakers/events without redesigning from scratch
Dual-format output: Instagram + print, consistent brand feel
The Approach
Inputs first, templates second
Standardized speaker photo inputs (headshot, fun shot, full-body) and then built a reusable poster template kit with fixed hierarchy and image containers so new events can be produced in a week without redesigning from scratch.

Design for variability (not best-case photos)
Key template moves that handle bad inputs:
1) Halftone / treatment layer to unify mismatched lighting and resolution,
2) Framed image zones so weird crops still feel intentional,
3) High-contrast type hierarchy so info stays readable even when photos are chaotic, and
4) Background texture to reduce “empty space” and add cohesion across a series

The Exploration
Explored multiple poster directions to balance brand texture with fast readability, stress-testing layouts against inconsistent speaker photos while keeping key event details in fixed, easy-to-swap positions.

The Final Result
A flexible poster system that keeps Limelight’s identity consistent while letting each speaker’s imagery and info swap in fast.

The Validation
Templates reduced poster turnaround to a repeatable 1-week workflow per speaker
System stayed readable even with mixed-quality, inconsistent speaker photos
Consistent hierarchy ensured the essentials (speaker, talk title, date, time, room) never got lost
